New Weaving mold design Click here to see initial trials of weaving glass
For these molds we cut glass to 1/2" wide strips We recommend 1/4" strips for a loose weave, 1/2" Glass strips slumped onto new mold
Successful Firing Schedule 1 300d/hr - 1300 hold 10 2 9999d/hr - 950 hold 20 3 300d/hr - 700 hold 5 Off |
To assemble the glass weave, flip every other piece of glass over to create gap for weft to be threaded into. (See photo on the right) Thread straight strips into gaps and tack fuse to make a solid woven glass cloth (I used a standard tack fuse schedule)
Shown is the assembled weave and ready for the kiln. I have posted the schedule above for the small bead kiln. May need some adjusting for larger kilns. We left the weave loosed to illustrate the technique
Had to take a peek,(Not recommended) Finished weave was tacked to a clear back, slumped into a square dish and is now a candy dish (Not Shown)
Here are a few examples of completed woven projects

The initial trial of individual stainless humps had too many variables to produce a constant weave, therefore we only make one piece molds for consistent results everytime.
